Blister this

I've spotted some paint blisters on the front door.

Zut alors!

One is about the size of a nickel and the others are quite a bit smaller, but I still see them. That means they'll eventually pop and peel and the door will look horrid. What a pain!! I was really hoping not to have to paint that door again for many years. oh well, I'm going to ignore the bubbles and see what happens. Hopefully they won't burst before Spring.

Burn baby burn

I'm afraid the oven is in very sad shape and getting worse by the day. I suppose using just that one back burner after so many months is finally taking a toll. Last night C had to finish boiling a pot of pasta on the gas downstairs because the burner just wasn't getting hot enough. We should really rally really make an effort to get the other burners functioning again. I would gate to have to buy a new mini stove before we have the room to install a standard size one. Maybe it's a sign that we should get going on those kitchen reno plans...

Oh! Entered a contest for a new washer and dryer over the weekend. The draw is this week sometime. Not sure that they would fit down the stairs if I won though, lol!!

Inspiration

The furnace is sounding loud again. Or maybe that's just because I was standing next to it when it switched on this afternoon?

I visited an open house on the street over today. Very very very nice, and so inspiring. Made me want to get cracking on our own renos. No time to get into anything major now, but the ideas in my head are bubbling!

No news

No news to report. No news is good news, right?

Still have to secure the new address numbers to the wall. Maybe this weekend?

Down the drain

So I was washing my hands in the basement bathroom sink the other day and noticed that hot water drained normally. Wow! When did that problem resolve itself? Maybe ignoring it for so many months was the trick.

Now if only the upstairs bathtub clog would fix itself too...

Out with the old

Rainy day today. I intended to plant the bulbs during my days off, but I still haven't gotten around to it. Maybe tomorrow weather permitting. I'd really really really like to get your backyard cleaned up before it gets too cold to do anything out there. Lets see what tomorrow's weather brings.

Oh, I finally put up the new address numbers. Sort of. I haven't properly drilled them into place, but C has offered to do it. So nice to get that old plaque off the wall. I need to scrub off whatever that white chalky stuff is that surrounded the plaque. Hopefully it will come off!

Making progress

The furnace is cleaned and the new registers fit woohoo! We're off to a good start for this winter.

Couldn't find a fit for the wall plate in the back bedroom but I'll have a look at CT tomorrow.

I bought a bunch of bulbs yesterday - the flowering kind that is. I'll try get around to planting them this weekend. By next spring your front and back end will be blooming beautifully! And it's about time! Can't wait to get some use out of the back yard next year. My plan is to sew some clover seeds and wild flowers in the spring. The plan has changed a few times already, but this one has stuck for a few weeks. Lets see if it pans out.

HVAC guy

HVAC guy is coming tonight to clean the furnace! At least I hope so. We got a v-message yesterday confirming the appointment so I'm sure all will be as scheduled.

I bought replacement floor registers at lunch. Hopefully these fit. I got metal this time which should be a little more sturdy than the plastic I got yesterday. Looks like there's a place to hold a filter in these which was lacking in the plastic ones. The colour should be better match too. I can't wait to get rid of the old registers. I didn't realize how bad shape they were in until I lifted the one from behind the front door this morning and the top separated from the bottom. Definitely time for replacements!

Forget me not

I'm pretty sure by now that we were forgotten. The furnace maintenance appointment was for Wednesday evening. It's now Friday morning. No big deal I guess. I called to reschedule and am waiting for a call-back.
